Vote for the Globies!

Wouldn't you like to help select the best and worst global warming performances? How satisfying would that be? Just click above. There's only 5 questions, so it doesn't take long. They'll announce the winners (and losers as the case may be) on February 23. Go vote! (Thanks for the link, Kleo :o)

This is 'Maple-Almond Granola with Cranberries and Blueberries' from "Fresh from the Vegetarian Slow Cooker". It's pictured on the one little patch of snow that I could find this winter. hmmmm... About the granola, it's Ok, & we're a bit spoiled by other granola we buy and haven't gone crazy for this. It'll be perfect for a pie crust. It was interesting making granola in a slow cooker, and it worked surprisingly well. This is one of my favorite cookbooks. I'm wondering if any readers have other Robin Robertson cookbooks?

How appropriate to mention the Globies and lack of snow in the same post. Thanks for sharing the link :)

Granola in a slow cooker? What a cool idea. It looks so appetizing on the mason jars.

I've got Robertson's Vegan Planet. She actually lives right around me...in Virginia Beach. VP has the best vegan raita recipe I've ever had! And some cool chili ideas, too.

I love that granola picture!

I really like R.R. cook books. I have Vegan Planet (I love the Indonesian Rice and the Tempeh Cacciatore) and the Carb Conscious Vegetarian (it has some excellent veggie dishes in it like Indian Spinach and Mushrooms with Tomatoes) and Fresh from the Vegetarian Slow Cooker (a lot of the recipes sound great but I've yet to try a lot of them). I've also checked out a couple of her cookbooks from the library in San Antonio such as The Meat and Potatoes Vegetarian Cookbook and Rice and Spice. I have a love-hate relationship with her books. Sometimes, the recipes sound excellent, but don't turn out spectacular. And sometimes, they turn out great! I don't know, but every time I skim through one of my RR books I think "This *sounds* really good, but I wonder if it actually *is*." This is probably due to the fact that I am known for ingredient switches and a lot of her recipes call for ingredients I don't have on hand.

ANYWAY, that's my POV. :)

I have "Fresh From the Vegetarian Slow Cooker" and have only tried a couple of recipes from it, but they've been really good. I've looked at Vegan Planet & Meat & Potatoes books but don't own them.

I have yet to make any kind of dessert dish in a slow cooker. Have you ever done one? How was it?

Hi Vicki...we have plenty of snow here...too bad I can't send it your way :) LOL I have the slowcooker cookbook...Rob seems to prefer the recipes from it more than me. Try the granola recipe from Extraveganza. It was really good although I added more orange juice which helped everything clump together a little more.

Thanks for sharing your POV, Ruthie, I appreciate it. I've had the same type of experiences with the FVSC & was wondering if I should venture into another of her cookbooks. Some major successes as well as some flops!

Hi Carrie! I haven't made a dessert in the Slow Cooker yet (applesauce doesn't count!) and would like to make a cobbler or Poached Pears or something. You totally inspired me to make stew recently, which I'll post about soon. Say Hi to Simon.

Hi Emmy! Thanks for your visit & the tip to make the granola recipe from Extraveganza -- I love that cookbook & will do.

Hi TK! Meat & Potatoes -- maybe I should get that cookbook? Kleo is doing great! She's very busy & doesn't have access right now, she really misses everyone.

Hi Candi! Can't wait to see the results of the vote -- I'll post them here.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting, Everybody!

Hi Vicki!

Thanks for the post about my slow-cooker granola recipe -- it works out great for us, so I'm curious to know the specifics of your experience. I also want to let you know that I finally have a blog and hope you'll stop by and visit! It's http://veganplanet.blogspot.com

I also ask that anytime you or any of your readers notice a problem with any of my recipes, please write to me through my website at www.robinrobertson.com and let me know. I'm in the process of compiling a list of typos, etc. from my cookbooks and hopefully corrections will be made in future editions. Thanks!
