Real Food

A new cookbook! It was only $16 on Amazon, and I got free shipping -- a big savings compared to the $27 they wanted at the restaurant that day...
Without a store run, I made 'Corn and black bean salad' (pg.107) I had everything except whole-grain mustard & red bell pepper. So, I added 1/2 tsp. mustard seed along with dijon, and a 'cado left from 5 May. The ingredients are basic, the dressing is fab! What are your favorites from this cookbook?

I love love LOVE that restaurant, but surprisingly I don't own the cookbook so I can't give you any recommendations. We were only in LA two days last year and ate at RFD twice! So good... Your salad looks lovely.

My favorites are the Grilled Tofu sandwiches, both of the phyllo rolls (appetizers), the mock cheddar cheese for both tacos and mac and cheese, and the tortilla soup. Pretty much everything I have made in there is delicious...not fast, but worth the work. I am jealous you have been to the restaurant! I am in Northern California and hope we get a Real Food Daily someday.

I love the seitan fajitas and the seitan tacos. Both kinds of seitan are awesome. I just gave this cookbook to my mom for Mother's Day! Hope you like it, too!

I hope I get to the restaurant someday...it sounds wonderful.

Hi Vicki,

After reading your blog today, I pulled out my copy of Real Food Daily. I've only made a few things, but everything I've made has been great. I look forward to seeing the recipes you try.

Can you shoot me an email Vicki? I've got a quick question for you.

Thanks!

I have been meaning to go to RFD since I got to LA and still haven't managed it... I’d love the book too…I have the feeling that I will end up more likely getting the book than going to the restaurant cos I am running out of time to go! The salad is very colourful and tasty looking!

I LOVE the black bean salad too! The barley salad (on the cover) is great. Everything I've made from the book is great. I've made: homemade ketchup, ranchero sauce, miso soup, broccoli soup, tortilla soup (you MUST make the tortillas strips!), barbecued tofu chop salad, multigrain quickbread, lasagna, and choc chip cookies. I'm dying to make the rfd burgers but I think it would take 2 days!
Have fun!
