Hot Dog Top Dog

My family prefers Yves Hot Dogs, hands-down. We've tried other veggie dogs, and think these are by far the best. Abi digs the taste, Art likes how they grill, and I like that they are nutritious, vegan, and can be found at WinCo (our regular grocery store).

Even our dog agrees that these hot dogs are top dog.....

A Hot Dog slipped out of the package and on to the floor.

My daughter screamed "Oh no!" as our dog Jolie quickly claimed the spoils and trotted it back to her spot to enjoy...

Coming in for this photo, Jolie gave me a warning growl to say she wasn't going to give it back.

I came back to find Abi double-fisted with hot dog. She gave me a warning growl to say she was keeping both of them.

That's a lot of hot dog hoarding! So I thought it'd be fun to capitalize on the Hot Dog enthusiasm.

Vegan Lunch Box has a great recipe for 'Pups in Blankets'. After dressing them up, we liked calling them 'Mummy Dogs'.

It was a snap to also make the 'Piroshki' because I happened to have left-over mashed potatoes in the fridge.

Here they are oven ready. We gobbled them up without a photo they were so irrestible. What's stopping schools from serving these in their lunches?!

Glad your family enjoys the veggie dogs - even Jolie!! :0D Schools should definitely offer more alternatives for students.

Mummy dogs were a HUGE favorite of my sister's and I when we were kids. 20 years later I am still enjoying them every so often. Such a great treat.

Everyone in the family loves those dogs! How cute!

I've never been a fan of meatless (or meat) hot dogs, but those pups in a blanket look pretty tasty.

That's a great one of your dog eating the tofu dog.

I love the YVES hot dogs too, especially the jumbo ones - and have you tried the flavoured Yves jumbos?...my favourites are the Bavarian and the Italian. Tofurkey also makes similarly flavoured jumbo dogs (also called Bavarian and Italian) and they are also really good...and that's such a yummy way to eat them - pure comfort food :)

I *love* anything wrapped in pastry, so next time you make your Mummy Dogs, let me know and I'll come round ;)

Your package of Yves hot dogs looks way different than the Canadian package. Funny, eh? Why wouldn't they all be the same? Yves are OK, but I prefer a brand here called Oh! Naturel or when I go to the States I get the Morningstar farm ones. I like those. We usually have them on the grill or with beans n' weiners. I never thought of pups in blankets! What a great idea!

carrie, that's exactly what I was thinking when I saw the pkg.
I prefer the Oh! Naturel brand too, but I buy PC brand ones when I can't find them.

They look yummy. I prefer the Loma Linda veggie links.

I wish they would serve food like that in the schools. So much healthier and visually appealing that a lot of the slop they serve.

Reading about Abi giving you a growl cracked me up. I've never seen that brand. We usually go for the Tofurky sausages but I'll keep my eyes peeled for these dogs.
